At some point last year, halfway through a cylinder of Original Pringles, our Chief Dolloper, Tom, was struck mid-munch by a bonkers idea. To start a networking event.
Switching off Columbo and turning to his notepad, he jotted down everything he loved about networking events. And everything that made him want to permanently live in a one-man submarine.
A few scribbles later, he rounded up us Dollopers to bring the idea to life. Jonathan took care of the name, Tom took care of the copy, and I (Dean) was tasked with the brand and design.
Nothing but networking
Most networking events come with an agenda as tight as the leg space on a low-budget airline. Pitching, presentations, 40-minute welcome speeches. It squeezes out the networking.
We wanted to bring something a little different. A two-hour natterthon with no interruptions and no order of service. Just good ol’ fashioned networking with a bunch of lovely networkers.
Our positioning paved the way for a brand name. Although we could’ve ran with ‘Innovative Talking Solutions’, we landed on something more dollop-y. gas bags.
Bringing the brand to life
Fun, playful, not up itself. There was only one way the visual identity of gas bags was heading. And after a few nips and tucks, here’s how it shaped up.

Getting gas bags out there
With approximately 13,721 networking events in Brighton, there was no guarantee gas bags would work. We shared a few LinkedIn posts, sent a couple of ravens, and within 19 days of going live, tickets had gone.

Here’s a little video of our first event put together by the legend himself, Alex Vernon.
Wanna come to gas bags?
If you wanna come to a networking event that offers nothing but networking, we’d love to see you there. A ticket bags you a drink, Thai food (buffet style), and the chance to natter with 24 other networkers.
All for just £19. Get involved.
